A Quilter's Journal...

O...how I wish that i would've started one of these
a loooong time ago.  I can only imagine how cool it
would be to look back thru the pages and see...
my progress as a quilter...and my children grow up..

These are photos that I took of my niece's
Quilt Journal..
I've searched all over the Internet for one of
these books/journals for quilters...
I think that they are out of print.. =(

This is my niece... She has started to pose with
some of her quilts.  Now that her children are
older...they are busier...and for some reason..
this happened with my kids in their teen years...
they don't want to pose for photos anymore...

You can see here in a close up of the journal page...
she put snips of her fabrics at the bottom.  If you
look closely...you can also see just above the fabric snips,
...in the "thoughts" area, she wrote "Kinda busy, but okay".
Just think...someday...if one of her grandchildren were to
read these notes...they might be able to look at her
quilt thru her eyes.  How cool is that?

This is her daughter when she was young...

Daughter, again....a bit older...

OMGosh..how FUN!! Take a look at this picture

and...now the one below!!

Yep...kids grow up fast!!

O..KAY...I AM..turning over a NEW leaf!!...
I have been inspired by this Journal!  What a
great legacy to leave behind...
 for posterity.
I am going to start a Quilter/Crafter's Journal...
Here and now...TODAY..
What about you?...
Or... do you already have one started?
What things do you document in your "journal"?
Maybe, you just like taking photos?  If so,
how do you store your photos?

I am putting together a Word Document for use in
a Quilter's Journal.
Please, email me if you for me to send you a copy
in attachment form.

PS.. FYPChallenge - March..
Show n' Tell will be tomorrow!

Great idea! I've tried to take pictures of all of my completions, but to have them all in one place with text to explain...how cool!

It's tough to dedicate to and those that do I so admire. I only managed to keep faithful to it for a year and then it got lost in the piles. I think I produce faster than I can document! BUT I do take photos and keep them filed.

The only documentation I do other than taking photos is what I put on my blog. I think that is a type of quilter's journal in itself.

Very cool idea! I've also decided that my blog will be my journal and at the end of the year, I'm turning that year's blog posts into a printed book ... there's an option for that, did you know? Very neat idea.

It is a great idea. I have an actual journal but have not put anything in it yet. Maybe this weekend.

My sister gave me a quilt journal very eary on in my quilting journey, so all of mine are documented with photos and my thoughts.

That's a great idea, that's part of the reason I started my blog. I do have a journal I write notes in but I should become more organised and have snippets of fabric and photos there too.

I have a journal where I put my ideas .. not very coherent and no pictures and no fabric. Good idea! Thanks for the great FTF!

I started my blog so it could serve as a journal of sorts but I've found I get off track with my ramblings.

I had planned to "make" somethign similar out of a standard journal but I see an online software program is for sale now that does the same thing. I'm not sure what the name is but I'm debating how I want to start recording. One way or another I'll get it going.

I have an ideas book where I also record the progress of quilts Im making, when I had the original idea or where I saw it and other random things like stitch length and planned names for quilts. I also shove in photos , who the quilt was for and when I started and finished it.

I like the thought of one of my grandkids keeping the book and loving it when Im gone in the same way as I do with my grandmother's recipe books.
