I entered! Nice read! A friend of mine (I think he was egging me on) asked me bluntly. Why should I care about quilts. I then spouted off about some of the historical significance about quilts. How they were used to communicate. How they represented the lifestyle of the owner. He couldnt argue after that!!

Congratulations Natasha. Thank you Annie for re-introducing us to a great article. Heritage quilts and quilting is close to me.

When I taught high school mathematics, especially geometry, I used my mother's quilts in the classroom as instructional aids. This was before I became a quilter. I follow your blog and sent you and email too.

I wish someone had taken the time to teach me quilting when I was younger - maybe, just maybe, math wouldn't be such a struggle for me today. Thanks for the great giveaway!

That is a very good article. I really enjoyed it.It is a great reminder for me of how many things from everyday life that I can use in teaching my son. I am loving doing the Barbara Brackman civil war quilt with him!

I enjoyed the article. I know that my Dad's mom was a quilter and my Dad has this beautiful hand quilted green quilt with birds that are a feast for the eyes.

I am looking around at your blog and really like your articles and pictures. Loved the pics of Mason sewing!! How cute! I cannot wait for our granddaughter to be old enough to learn to sew (she is only 3 and I just gave her those old time sewing cards using laces to 'sew').
Thanks for the giveaway!
