It all started when I was sewing strips together for the border
of a Christmas (gift) quilt. Needle was jamming and I'd have to
keep releasing the needle manually. I tried all the things I've
been trained to do to try to remedy "EL PROBLEMO"
O...sheeee-LAC! AND DAG-BLASTED!!!
I don't want to quit sewing!
I'm on a "roll" here. But, the machine is not wanting to cooperate.
Solution
..I need to take her to my favorite Bernina repairman...
(Christopher? are your ears burning?). It's almost a 30 minute drive,
one-way, withOUT traffic. UGH...and I WAS on a
sewing..."roll".
She's a heavy girl...my Bernina. Lugging her downstairs and
into the car is no easy feat, but I did it. After putting her in the
back seat, and securely buckling her in, I was off to Dave's Bernina.
Being true to my worry-wart-self...
all these terrible thoughts began to buzz around in
meee ol' pea-brain
Will I have to leave my precious "Bertha" (my machine's name)
overnight? Or, worse...for days? Maybe even a WEEK?
Would this problem be expensive to fix?
Would they have to order a part?...and Bertha have to wait
all alone and scared in the repair room without me?
Maybe, I should mention.... I've paid a pretty penny for Bertha.
The exact amount, I wouldn't dare divulge here. I could get
arrested and put in the DOG-house! So...needless to say...
I was holding my breath the whole 30 minutes!
Well...making a short story...long ('cause I'm a blabber mouth),
I lugged in Miss Bertha and brought her the "doctor". Mind you,
I'm still holding my breath. BUT...
guess what???
After about 5 minutes she was fixed!
BIG SIGH!! BIG THANK YOU..., a few purchases at
the Bernina store and I was ready to put Bertha back
securely belted into my car. Happy and BREATHING,
I was on my way back home!

And...that...my friends was how time passed
for my Tuesday afternoon.
~~
Was YOUR Tuesday as "exciting" as mine?

You are SO lucky Bertha didn't need to stay overnight!!! Glad she's in good working order again.
Pretty lucky I think - and hopefully it wasnt something that you would have been able to do yourself had you known what it was you needed to do - that can be so frustrating!!!
Not nearly. so glad it worked out!
Yay for Bertha! My Fiona only acts up late on Saturday afternoons, after the "hospital" has closed for the weekend. The last time I rushed her in, I found that the problem was operator inexperience, not a problem with Fiona. Whew! Glad you had a happy ending, and I hope you quilcly got back on a roll!
Yay for a quick fix! Yesterday my hubby flew across the country (Ohio to Washington State)for a job interview... He's on his way home now.
Keep riding that wave...
Congratulations, I'm so glad Bertha didn't have the flu! She just wanted some extra attention... from a Ma-an. ;o)
Having a reliable and honest repairman is a true treasure.
I'm breathing a sigh of relief with you!
Thank goodness it was nothing more serious. You could have ended up with an early Christmas present otherwise :-))
Oh your afternoon was much more exciting! So glad your machine was fixed in a jiffy. (I did spend my evening shopping with my 16 year for presents for Daddy. That was a blast! 16 year olds are fun to shop with - I only bought her one thing that night. How she talks me into that right before Christmas I'll never know. lol!!)
I'm glad your Bertha was an easy fix! If you lived next door, you could borrow mine when yours is acting up. It's my backup machine, anyway.
So glad Bertha didn't have and overnight stay! I need to take Lydia in for cleaning. Sigh. I hate not having a machine.
So glad to hear that Bertha was fixed so easily and quickly! Hopefully you were able to get back into your sewing mode once again.
No my Tuesday was not as exciting as yours, but I do need to drop my Bernina off for her annual spa day with Jay! Thanks for the reminder!!
Man. I know how you feel my Singer Confidence quilter decided that the foot pedal was not going to work. Luckily my embroidery machine is also a sewing machine and I also brought out my old old Singer that does not do much but straight sewing. This is me with seven more quilts to get done before Christmas. Don't even have time or money right now to dash to the repair shop.
So glad Bertha's illness wasn't major. I think it is about time I took my big Janome in for a spa day too. Have a wonderful day Annie...(o:
